Bringing Books to Borikén: Little Free Libraries Across Puerto Rico

Hi, my name is Jamilette Cintron I’m an author and proud Puerto Rican woman with a dream to transform how our communities access books and stories.

On a recent visit home, I had a powerful realization: there are so few Little Free Libraries in Puerto Rico. Our kids, families, and elders deserve free access to books, stories that reflect our culture, our challenges, our strength, and our future.

That’s why I’m launching "The Free Voice Libraries" a growing network of handcrafted, weather-resistant Little Free Libraries to be installed across the island, especially in under-resourced areas.

Each library will: Be built and installed by Papo Construction, a local construction company

Each library will: Be filled with books, many of which will be of the latin community or published to reflect our voices.

We will be offering free access to reading for children, teens, and families, our libraries will be maintained monthly to stay safe, clean, and stocked.

This GoFundMe will fund:

Materials & supplies for building the libraries

Books (including Spanish & bilingual titles)

Charter registration with Little Free Library

Transport and installation across Puerto Rico

My goal is to start with 5–10 libraries, and grow from there. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us plant seeds of imagination, hope, and literacy.
