As some of you may know, Jamil is a beautiful and resilient soul that has had to endure multiple life-threatening seizures for several years and around 2017 in particular, which changed the course of his life forever.
He was in and out of hospital from 2018 through to mid 2020, often within the mental health ward, unable to live a normal life of a child.
We as loving parents made the difficult decision to house our son in a home nearby to be able to receive 24/7 care to help manage his complex needs resulting from the seizures he suffered in 2017 and 2018.
As children are getting excited about Christmas coming, our son is one of those kids, all excited for Christmas in his special home that has all the ammenities in a private rental in Rochedale to care for his disabilities and complex needs (he is 16 but cognitively around 6-9 yo).
This private rental in Rochedale in Brisbane, is home for him for now with family near by visiting all the time, important for him to begin to thrive into his adult life and for him to feel safe and not feel rejected or abandoned.
Jamil's family and friends wholly agree that the Mount Gravatt / Rochedale area is the best place for him, as it has all familiar surroundings of where he was born and raised and most important close to us parents, and his relatives so all these factors provide familiarity and stability which make him feel safe.
We received news yesterday that the financial support providing him the ability to stay in this private rental is possibly being cut and therefore will be moved to another suburb, over thirty minutes away from all familiar surroundings, within a month's time, if we can't provide the rent for him to stay for at least another year.
We want our son to not worry about having a home especially as he is thinking about Christmas and like all children especially those with special needs deserve to be just enjoying their life and special events like Christmas and not concern themselves of where they will be living next.
We hope you can help keep our son in the house he currently calls home for the last part of his childhood before he has to move to an adult facility - many thanks!
An account is set up specifically to support Jamil. All funds go to supporting Jamil's accommodation for the next twelve months in his current, highly specialised care home.
