I’m riding in the London to Brighton bike event to raise funds for my brother Jamie Thomas to have Stem Cell treatment.
On the 1st of June 2025, Jamie had a serious motocross accident resulting in a broken back and subsequently a damaged spinal cord paralyzing Jamie from the chest down.
Jamie spent in total 13 weeks in hospital, two major operations, to mend a burst fracture and cut open the spinal canal to release the pressure on the spinal cord at St Georges hospital and 8 weeks at a specialized hospital in Stanmore for rehabilitation which is ongoing.
The reason I have started this Gofundme and undertaking the London to Brighton bike ride is we have been researching going abroad for the Stem Cell Treatment to maximise Jamies chances to walk again, thankfully Jamie’s injury is In-complete which means the cord is transferring signals so there is a chance Jamie will walk again. I would like to send Jamie to the best Clinic we can find to give Jamie the best chance to walk again.
Unfortunately, the cost of this treatment is unknown until Jamie has an assessment.
Jamie was such an active boy, he had a carpentry apprenticeship which he was just about to finish and loved racing with East Kent schoolboys and southern evo, loved mountain biking, bmx riding and tinkered around in the garden fixing and working on his bikes all of which have been cruelly taken away from him
I would like to take this opportunity and say thank you for taking the time to read this, to anyone that has already donated I will always be sincerely thankful and will always be in your dept.
To anyone looking to help donating to this cause, it will help Jamie with the best chance of making a full recovery.
Thankyou
Shaun Thomas
