A few weeks ago, our mom’s home was broken into and everything she has worked for and saved for over the last 20 years was taken from her. At 60, the idea of starting again is immensely overwhelming and her body is tired from the years she has already put in. Just when she was thinking of scaling back to a reasonable 40 hours a week instead of 60, this tragedy happened. My mother, the eternal optimist, is for the first in my life, shattered and hopeless.

Our mom, Jami, is one of those people that makes everyone’s life brighter. She has spent her whole life sacrificing her own wants and needs for her children and her family. She is one of the most hardworking people you could ever meet and she showed up every day with a smile on her face. My mom has something about her that makes everyone she meets feel special and loved. If you know her, you’d agree—without hesitation.

If you know my mom, you know she never asks for help—which is why we have decided to ask for her. Our goal is to help her rebuild a sense of security and hope and remind her that the things that truly matter are family, faith, community, and love.
