James is a 67-year-old Navy veteran in a wheelchair, living in a motel with his disabled wife and daughter after being hit by a truck on August 14th. His biggest needs are simple but urgent: a safe place to live and steady work so his family can regain stability.
⸻
James’s Story
James proudly served three years in the Navy, working in radio communications. After his service, he worked steadily in customer service, including over five years at Whataburger. He has always been a hard worker, but when his landlord suddenly doubled his rent, his income couldn’t keep up. His credit was ruined, and his family lost their home.
This summer, on August 14th, James was hit by a truck, leaving him with serious injuries and unable to continue working at whataburger. Now, he cannot walk and relies on a wheelchair. Despite this, he remains determined to provide for his family.

His Family Situation
• James lives with his disabled wife and adult daughter in a Motel 6 near my home.
• His daughter is eager to work but cannot until she secures her Social Security card and driver’s license. She lost her DL and her social security card was misplaced when they were evicted.
• Their extended family support is gone. Most of James’s siblings and relatives have passed away. His remaining family is Arizona but they are unable to help much given their own personal situations and given the distance.

What They Need Most
1. Stable Housing — A permanent, safe place to live.
2. Job Opportunities — James is seeking remote or local work. His daughter is ready to start working as soon as her documents are in order.
3. Connections to Resources — Housing programs, assisted living options, or job leads that can give this family a fresh start.

How You Can Help
Your donation will go directly toward:
• Covering immediate housing and daily needs.
• ID replacement and transportation expenses so James’s daughter can begin working.
• Giving James the breathing room to seek stable employment.
But just as important as funds, this family needs community connections. If you know of affordable housing, job opportunities, or assisted living programs, your help could be life-changing.

James is a man of deep faith. Even through hardship, he finds comfort in Scripture — he owns several Bibles and recently shared his joy that his daughter is preparing for baptism as a small local church that they walk to nearby the motel 6 they have been staying at. Despite losing so much, he still believes in hope and kindness.
Please donate, share this story, and connect if you can. Together, we can give James and his family the stability, dignity, and opportunity they deserve.
