Help Jameelah Recover From Car Theft

Donation protected
My name is Heather Perkins, founder of Ignite Change a social cause advertising agency and a close friend of Jameelah A. Love. We made this video for Jameelah because ever since 2017 we’ve watched her do everything right as she pushed her Sisyphean boulder up a hill only to have it roll back down over her. Jameelah endured transgenerational trauma that was documented the Journal Sentinel "Time to Heal" special report that traced the effects of trauma on children growing up in poverty, violence and neglect. Presented with a survey about adverse childhood experiences, Jameelah answered yes to every measure of trauma.

But even so Jameelah’s energy has been positive. She helped raise awareness for a handful of organizations—using her personal pain and struggle to bring attention to social causes. Her energy has been boundless. She launched a non profit to help send foster youth to prom, helped launch Hand’s around the Capitol, organized an impressive Empower Me Foster Walk and presented a Foster Care Bill of Rights to Congress.

In 2020 she left Milwaukee to earn a baking certificate from Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander and is just a handful of classes shy of earning an Associates in Culinary Arts and in Culinary Management. She completed the Wilton School of Cake Decorating Master Class series and started an online baking business, Caked With Love.

She moved back to Milwaukee May 1st and after only 3 days back—her car was stolen in front of her house. It was recovered one block away the next morning totaled and her cake decorating supplies were gone. While her insurance covered the cost of her loan we started this GoFundMe to cover her down payment on a car (3k) and to replace her baking supplies (1.2k).
