My name is Dolly and I am writing on behalf of my uncle Viane “Jak” Phanthavong.
On 9/10/2025, my uncle, a loving backbone of his family, was detained by ICE and in the process of being deported back to Laos, a country he has not lived in for 36 years. This abrupt and devastating event has torn our family apart and left him with nothing but uncertainty.
For decades, Jak has been a hardworking member of his community, working hard, paying taxes, and providing for his family. He has 8 children, 4 of whom are not his biological children, but he raised them as his own. That’s the kind of man Jak is. He is a humble, loving father, generous friend, and an overall hardworking family man who made a mistake nearly 30 years ago. Jak is a warm and friendly person who greets everyone with warmth and was always the first to help a neighbor in need. His life here was meaningful and built on hard work and dedication to his family.
Following his detention, our family has been left emotionally devastated and overwhelmed. He has to start completely over in a country that is foreign to him. We are humbly asking for your support to help him during this difficult time. The funds raised will go directly toward helping him start a new life in Laos.
Every donation, no matter the size, will make a profound difference in his life. If you cannot donate, please share his story with your network. Thank you for your empathy and support during this incredibly difficult time.
