My name is Shawanda, and I am reaching out for help to provide a safe and stable home for my daughter, Jai’Nel Monet’. Jai’Nel was born on December 29, 2024, at just 23 weeks. She has faced a long and difficult medical journey, including chronic lung disease, PDA, bronchial pulmonary dysplasia, and pulmonary hypertension. Throughout her life, Jai’Nel has been transferred between three different hospitals and has undergone two major procedures—a heart murmur closure and a tracheostomy. She now has a tube in her throat to help her breathe and will require 24-hour nursing care at home due to her condition.
While Jai’Nel’s medical needs are covered by Medicaid, I am struggling to keep up with the costs of rent, utilities, and all the basic necessities she will need once she is discharged. I lost my job and have been unable to find new work, and my rent is due at the end of August. Without support, I risk losing our home, which would mean Jai’Nel cannot leave the hospital and begin her recovery surrounded by family and comfort.
Bringing Jai’Nel home is my greatest hope. I want to watch her grow, develop, and experience all the milestones that every child deserves. Most of her life has been spent under sedation, and her development has been delayed. With your support, I can give Jai’Nel the safe environment she needs to thrive and start her journey toward a brighter future. Any help you can offer will go directly toward keeping our home, covering utilities, and providing for Jai’Nel’s essential needs as she transitions from hospital to home.
We’re asking for help to raise funds to cover essential needs in the coming months:
- Rent: $1,200/month
- Electric: $275/month (likely higher with the home ventilation equipment)
- Water & sewer: $65/month
- Cell/internet: $250/month
- Groceries: $300–$400/month
- Car repair: $500–$700 (so I can keep all of Jai’Nel’s follow-up appointments)
- Baby essentials (clothes, high chair, dresser, basic developmental toys, etc.)
