Hi Im Gillian and im trying to raise funds to help us pay for my son Jaden.
Jaden is 12 years old (turning 13 at the end of October) and has been selected for the GBR Junior Squad, and following a very successful year it has just been announced he has be selected to represent GBR competing at the FIG World Age Group Championships in Pamplona, Spain this November.
Tumbling is a thrilling and highly disciplined branch of gymnastics, often referred to as the “100-meter sprint” of the sport. Athletes perform seven dynamic flips down a 25-meter track at high speed, finishing with a powerful landing on a mat. Though not currently an Olympic discipline, Tumbling falls under the Trampolining category and is growing in popularity for its explosive athleticism and excitement.
Jaden’s journey began at just 3½ years old, when his Nan enrolled him in gymnastics to channel his boundless energy. By age 4, Harlequin Gymnastics spotted his potential and invited him to join their first-ever boys squad. Since then, Jaden has flourished under the guidance of world silver medallist Elliott Browne and, more recently, the incredible coaching team at MK Gymnastics, where he’s trained since 2022.
In January 2023, Jaden was selected for Team GB’s Development Squad and competed internationally in Portugal and came home with a silver medal. This year, he earned a place in the Junior Squad and continues to train 12 hours a week, attending three national GBR camps annually. Despite financial constraints, he managed to attend a training camp in Denmark this August, though we had to decline an opportunity to compete in France due to costs.
Jaden recently moved up to the 13–14 age category—a significant leap in competition level. With no pressure other than to “run clean,” he stunned us all by placing 3rd in both Spring Cup 1 and Spring Cup 2, securing his qualification for the British Championships this October. As the youngest in his category, this achievement speaks volumes about his talent and determination.
Following the outcome of the British Championships on 6th October, where he place 4th in the 13-14 age group and 11th in the 13-16 age group, Jaden has been selected to be one of four athletes to represent Great Britain at the FIG World Age Group Championships in Spain on 13th November.
Here is a breakdown of the estimated costs as there is no funding due to Tumbling NOT being an Olympic sport (excluding kit and additional training weekend):
• £1,330 – Accommodation
• £140 – Entry fee
• £175 – Flights
• £55 – Airport transfers Total: £1,700
Please take a look at Jaden’s Instagram page (@Finchyflips), which I manage, and provide regular updates so you can see footage of his competions and what an amazing sport this is.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any donations you can give to help.
