My name is Jacqueline, and I am a Desert Storm veteran who recently had to medically retire after 30 years of federal service. I’ve always found joy in gardening, reading, writing, and crafting, and I had even started a small crafting business before a series of surgeries on both hands and my right ankle changed my plans. The resulting neurological damage has limited what I can do, but I remain focused on creating a positive environment for my family and community. I am also the proud adoptive mother of my two granddaughters, AD and AJ, who have been with me since they were very young. My two adult sons are building their own lives, so my main focus is on supporting AD and AJ as they grow and thrive.

AD is 11 and has a passion for music, art, and sports. She’s a straight-A student, a member of the National Honor Society, and plays the tenor drum in the drum corps. She’s also active in Pathfinders, where she continues to excel. AJ, who is 9, brings laughter to our home with her sense of humor. She is also an honor student who loves singing, music, and art, and is enrolled in Adventurers, looking forward to joining Pathfinders soon. Both girls are part of a mentoring group that teaches etiquette and self-esteem, helping them grow socially, spiritually, and emotionally.

Recently, our family has faced a series of setbacks. My dryer broke a few months ago, and just this week, our refrigerator failed, causing us to lose much of our food and putting my refrigerated medication at risk. While running errands, someone stole a bag from my car containing most of the girls’ school uniforms and underclothes, leaving them with only one set each of uniforms. The girls’ club membership fees are due, and their participation in these activities is vital for their development. On top of this, my car needs repairs after an incident on a flooded road. Since my medical retirement, my federal retirement income doesn’t cover our mortgage or basic needs, and my application for SSDI is still pending. I am reaching out for help to replace our essential appliances, recover the girls’ uniforms, cover their extracurricular fees, and address urgent car repairs.
