The recent Covid-19 disaster struck my family very hard. Within a year, I lost my best friend, my sister, my uncle, my best friend’s mother, and my grandfather. Then, in mid-2025, my stepfather—who had cosigned on my home—passed away suddenly from pancreatic cancer. With his loss, I lost the last of my family support. My divorce began in 2021, and after four years of mediation and trying to keep my home, the foreclosure happened anyway after my stepfather died. There was no one left to help take over the payments, and I found myself without a place to call home.
Right now, my former spouse has been incredibly generous, covering many of my sudden costs like temporary storage, moving expenses, and hotel stays while I transition to a homeless shelter. These are costs he wasn’t prepared to take on, but he stepped up when I had no one else. I’m hoping to recover as many of these expenses as I can through your generosity—especially for the storage unit and mover costs—so I can relieve this burden from my ex-spouse, who has already done so much for me. My goal is to use these funds, along with help from local charities I’ve applied to, to secure a suitable rental and start fresh as I begin graduate studies in social work this summer. My hope is to help others avoid the same pitfalls I’ve experienced.
I just need a little starter money for housing down payments and to repay those who have helped me avoid homelessness. Any support, whether financial or just words of encouragement, means the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I promise to keep all disbursements transparent and keep you updated on my journey.
