Jacob has dedicated himself to sharing the joy and challenge of triathlons with physically challenged (PC) athletes like Grace, ensuring she can experience the thrill of competition in a way many never thought possible. His commitment involves pulling her in a boat during the swimming portion, towing her in a specially designed wheeled chair during the cycling segment, and pushing her for the running leg. It’s truly an inspiring partnership of strength, resilience, and teamwork.
To make this possible, Jacob outfitted his Trek gravel bike with custom hardware designed to attach the “chariot” to his frame. Unfortunately, during a recent ride, the hardware malfunctioned, causing significant damage to the carbon fiber frame of his bike—effectively rendering it unusable. With the invaluable support of Trek and his local Trek store in Cary, NC, the frame has been replaced, but this incident highlighted a critical need: a carbon fiber frame, while lightweight, is too fragile for the unique demands of this setup.
We’re now seeking to help Jacob procure an aluminum-framed bike that can better withstand the rigors of this extraordinary mission. Aluminum frames are more durable while still being light enough to support his efforts, ensuring that Jacob and his PC athlete partners can continue to compete safely and effectively.
With the cost of the new equipment being $3,100 with taxes, etc., any contribution can make a tangible difference. By helping us raise the funds needed for an aluminum bike, you’ll be directly supporting Jacob’s inspiring efforts to break barriers, foster inclusion, and create unforgettable moments for PC athletes like Grace. Join us in empowering this incredible journey – every dollar helps bring us closer to the finish line when we "Race with Grace!"
Thank you for your kindness and support!
