Help Jack Gerling fight Leukemia
Our big-hearted nephew, Jack Gerling is fighting a battle that no child should ever have to fight – the fight against leukemia.
Jack is 15 years old and will be in the 10th grade when school resumes. He is a very active teenager who participates in track, cross country, band, and swim team.
Jack started having hip and knee pain in May. On June 11, he was taken to the doctor for blood work and tests. A few hours later, our brother, Brian and his wife, Renee received the news that no parent ever wants to hear….’Your child has leukemia. Bring him to Children’s hospital ER’.
The hospital staff were amazing and the doctors promptly began the necessary tests and procedures such as spinal fluid retrieval, bone marrow samples, heart tests, imaging, and of course the chemotherapy treatments. Jack is expected to call the hospital home for most of the next 6-8 months (he may get a few days/weeks here and there to be home) . He is a strong young man and is processing all of the information being thrown at him…along with the physical and emotional pain…as if he were twice his age. A true champion.
We started this Go Fund Me account to take away at least one stress from his parents and three sisters. Over the next 6-8 months Brian and Renee will need to take turns taking off work to be with Jack at the hospital. As you can imagine, the normal costs of every day living on top of the medical costs can be astronomical.
This will enable Jack’s parents to focus solely on Jack getting well and beating this terrible disease called leukemia.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible, in giving (any amount will help).
We thank you for your support and prayers!!
Sincerely,
Jack’s Aunts… Darlene, Stephanie, Denise, and Michelle
