Help Jack and Annie get back on track

At 39 weeks pregnant, the only thing new parents should be preparing for is the birth of their beautiful baby. Instead, my close friends Annie and Jack, found themselves facing every expectant parent’s worst nightmare - emergency surgery after a freak accident last week turned their world upside down.

Jack had been playing basketball when a 100kg player came crashing down on him, leaving him in excruciating pain. Both Annie and Jack soon realised that this injury wasnt going to be fixed with a goodnights sleep and found themselves heading to the emergency room. Nothing could have prepared them for the devastating X-ray results—Jack had broken his hip!

Doctors initially recommended a total hip replacement—a shocking reality for someone so young. But Jack and Annie fought for a treatment plan that would allow him to heal without a full replacement. After specialist consultations, Jack underwent surgery to have his hip pinned in three places. Reality for Jack is 6 weeks of bed rest and months of recovery.

Jack is self-employed, which means his income has completely stopped while he recovers—and unfortunately, he’s expected to be out of work for months. With all the typical day to day living expenses, and a baby on the way, they are facing an overwhelming situation with no local family support to lean on.
