Hi, I am fundraising for my beautiful niece ,Ivy and her family. Ivy went cross eyed a few weeks ago. She was feeling dizzy and struggled to walk and eat/drink. It seemed unusual and we thought she needed glasses. After staying with a family member, Ivy was taken to hospital with an extreme headache and vomiting. They found a tumor the size of an egg at the brainstem and this puts pressure on the nerves that is causing the eye to turn in. . Ivy has had two brain surgeries to drain the tumor, among other harrowing medical procedures. The diagnosis is Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG). It is highly aggressive and difficult to treat. It occurs in the brainstem which controls many of the body's most vital functions such as breathing, blood pressure, and heart rate. Unfortunately, children with this condition live only a few short months, and just 10% can live up to 2 years. Ivy has been given only 3 months to live. Ivy has an older sister, younger brother and step brothers and sister. Ivy is currently going through radiation treatment. Mum and Bonus Dad have had to cut hours at their jobs to be there for Ivy, and her treatments ,and for their own mental health. The family would like to fund some fun times with all the kids, to create wonderful memories going forward. .
