Isaiah has battled sickle cell disease his entire life, enduring chronic, crippling pain crises throughout his body. One acute pain crisis resulted in emergency surgery to remove his spleen. He is frequently hospitalized, requiring regular blood transfusions and urgent, critical care treatment. Despite these challenges, Isaiah has an incredible chance to be cured. In June, he will undergo chemotherapy, and in July, he will receive a bone marrow transplant. His little sister Isabella is a perfect match and will donate her bone marrow to save her brother.

Isaiah will be confined to Children’s Hospital for months while undergoing this life-saving treatment. His mother will be with him for the entirety of his hospital stay, unable to work. Isaiah’s dad will work fewer hours to single-handedly care for Isabella and their youngest son Kyson. Once Isaiah is discharged and returns home, the entire family will be quarantined and locked down in their home while Isaiah’s immune system regulates and restores itself. Neither of his parents will be able to work or leave their residence during Isaiah’s recovery period to avoid exposing him to any outside germs or illnesses. Groceries and household goods will have to be delivered to their home, and they will only leave for Isaiah’s doctor appointments several times a week for labs and checkups to monitor his recovery. If all goes well, the quarantine may end in the fall.

They are a two-income household and will need financial assistance to help pay their monthly living expenses, such as rent, utilities, groceries, gas, and other essentials, to make up for the lack of income during this period of time. Dear friends and family, I want to invite you to walk alongside Isaiah as he receives his bone marrow transplant. Isaiah is a beautiful human being, inside and out. He is brave, strong, smart, and tenderhearted. He deserves a long and healthy, sickle cell-free life. With as much humility and graciousness as can possibly be expressed, I am asking for help from anyone who can afford to give.
