First, we want to say thank you to everyone who has continued to follow Isaiah’s journey and support our family. ❤️ We have some amazing news to share — Isaiah’s engraftment results came back, and his doctors have officially told us that he is cured of sickle cell disease! ❤️ After everything he has endured, hearing those words is something we will never forget. Isaiah is doing well and slowly getting more of his energy back. We are still going to clinic regularly for appointments, blood work, medications, and monitoring as his body continues to recover from his bone marrow transplant. Even with the amazing news that he is cured, our transplant journey isn’t over yet. Isaiah’s immune system is still rebuilding, which means we have to be extremely careful about germs and illness. For the most part, we have to stay home, limit visitors and outings, avoid crowds and unnecessary exposure, and be very cautious about who he is around. Something as simple as a cold or virus that most of us wouldn’t think twice about can be much more serious for him right now. So while we are finally seeing the light at the end of what has been an incredibly long road, we still aren’t able to completely return to our normal lives just yet. The last several months have also taken a financial toll on our family. Having to be out of work and not having the income our household was accustomed to has made it difficult to keep up and catch back up. I am back working now, but we are still navigating that financial impact while making Isaiah’s recovery and safety our priority. That is why we are continuing to keep our GoFundMe open during this part of his journey. The support we receive helps our family with household expenses and the ongoing costs that come with caring for Isaiah while he recovers. If you aren’t in a position to donate, sharing our fundraiser with your friends, family, or community can make such a difference too. ❤️ We will never be able to fully express how grateful we are for every donation, share, prayer, message, meal, fundraiser, and act of kindness that has been shown to our family. Isaiah has come SO far. We still have a road ahead of us, but being able to say that our baby is cured of sickle cell disease makes every difficult day worth it. ❤️‍ Thank you for continuing to stand beside our family through the healing part of this journey, too. #IsaiahStrong ❤️
