Hi, my name is Isabel and I am hiking Mt. Karisimbi to support the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda.
Through healing, education, and love, the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village empowers orphaned and vulnerable Rwandan youth to build lives of dignity and contribute to a better world. Modeled after Yemin Orde, an Israeli youth village established in 1953 to care for orphans of the Holocaust, Agahozo-Shalom is a place where "tears are dried" (from the Kinyarwanda word "agahozo") and where vulnerable youth can “live in peace” (from the Hebrew word "shalom").
The Agahozo Shalom Youth Village holds a very special place in my heart. I have been lucky enough to visit the village and experience first-hand the incredible work that they do and meet the amazing students and alumni who have changed my life in so many ways.
