“They had to pass their kids out the car window just to get to safety.”
My name is Zabrina Peters, and I live on the North Shore of Oahu in Hawai‘i. I’m creating this fundraiser for my best friend, Fayrina, her husband Irwin, their 7 kids, and their extended family.
My best friend and her family of nine — seven kids — went through something no parent should ever have to experience.
During the recent Kona storm in Hawaii, the flooding came fast. Faster than anyone expected. One minute it was heavy rain… the next, water was rising into their home and they knew they had to get out immediately.
They grabbed their kids and fled, trying to make it to the next town to find safety.
But on the way there, their car started filling with water.
And then it stalled.
In the middle of flooding. With all seven of their kids inside.
They had no choice but to get out… and in that moment, they were literally passing their kids out through the windows of the car to get them to safety, one by one, before walking through the water to find shelter.
By the time they made it out, everything had already started changing.
In addition to their home and cars being impacted, their in-laws’ was also completely flooded.
Together, this is three generations of family who have now been affected.
Between both homes, they lost everything.
Furniture, beds, clothes, appliances… gone.
And the irreplaceable things too like photos, keepsakes, baby items, and memories.
Her in-laws were recently notified that they have to be out of the home by the end of this month while the owner breaks down and rebuilds and Fayrina and her family are currently renting a car to use which isn’t cheap.
Three generations. One family. Starting over from nothing.
If you know them, you know how much love fills their homes. They are the kind of people who would give anything to help someone else without even thinking twice.
And now they’re the ones who need help.
Right now, they’re trying to figure out:
• Where multiple households are going to live
• How to replace basic essentials for everyone
• How to create stability again for their children
How funds will be used:
All funds raised will go directly to Fayrina, her family, and their in-laws to help cover:
• Temporary housing for both households / securing a safe place for all three generations
• Replacing essential items (clothes, beds, shoes, school supplies)
• Cleanup, restoration, and recovery from flood damage in both homes
• Food, groceries, and daily living expenses for their families
• Transportation and basic needs as they work to rebuild
Every dollar will go toward helping their entire family get back on their feet and create a safe, stable environment again.
We’re asking for any support — whether that’s donating, sharing, or even just keeping them in your prayers.
Anything helps.
Because right now, they’re not just rebuilding homes…
They’re trying to rebuild a sense of safety for their family.
Thank you for showing up for them during one of the hardest moments they’ve ever faced
