Help Irina and Wendel!

Hi, my name is Ela, and I am fundraising for Irina and Wendel. Irina helped orphans in India for eight years, and now she and Wendel need help themselves.

Irina is a very talented artist from Poland who decided to give the world more than just art. She left her life in Krakow in 2011, journeying to India, where she spent eight years volunteering to take care of children in orphanages. Devoting her life to helping others brought her joy greater than any artistic accomplishments she had achieved in her career.

In India, she met her future husband, Wendel, an artist from the United States who had been living in India for 50 years. In March 2020, they flew to the US together to carry out an artistic project and get married. Unfortunately, a few days after their arrival, the pandemic broke out, and the borders closed. With no way to return to India, they found themselves in a difficult financial situation. They managed to get by until December 2021, when Wendel became seriously ill. Due to their financial situation, he refused to seek medical attention until he became unresponsive and was rushed to the hospital. There, he was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and heart failure. Medical costs took all their savings, and Wendel's health prevented him from seeking work. Irina and Wendel became homeless, eventually finding shelter in Wendel's dilapidated family home: no kitchen, no heating, a leaky roof and a rundown interior is their everyday life in southern Indiana. Irina and Wendel struggle to survive on his $1,000 monthly pension, much of which goes to medical expenses. In January 2023, Wendel is scheduled to undergo a medical procedure to improve his heart condition.

Irina is waiting on documents allowing her to work, believing that everything can change. Although they cannot return to India due to Wendel's health, she dreams of working in the US and helping children as she did in India. But right now, they need your support.

The collected funds will be spent on food, clothes, medicine and, above all, renting a livable apartment.
