Help Us Care for Irene – Battling ALS

Hi, my name is Sabrina. My wonderful mum Irene, who lives in Brazil, was recently diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a devastating neurological disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, affecting muscle control. After spending over a month in intensive care and undergoing a tracheotomy, Irene has now been discharged. She relies on a respirator for breathing but lacks the necessary funding for the round-the-clock care she needs at home.
We are in the process of taking legal action to appeal for fully funded 24 hour care, but this process will take time. In the interim, we are faced with the cost of ensuring Irene’s safety and comfort at the care home currently looking after her, as well as providing her with a communication aid to help her communicate without hand movements, costs that the family can't manage alone.
This is why we are turning to friends and family for support, hoping to raise £3,000 to cover her immediate healthcare needs.
With the help of my husband Ben, we set up this fundraiser to help cover the costs involved in this process.
Anyone who knows Irene knows how unforgettable she is. She’s a person who radiates love, warmth, and positivity, and my sisters Ana Paula and Mariana and I want her to be as comfortable and safe as possible during this challenging time. Your generosity, no matter the amount, will make a significant difference in her quality of life.
Thank you for any help you can With the help of my husband Ben
