In the recent weeks, our community was made aware of a high conflict divorce that has created a widespread conversation in our community. Our beloved relative, Irena, who has gone through enough is now a victim of Gett abuse which is considered to be domestic abuse. Thousands of women fall victim to this abuse where their estranged spouses use this as a technique in an attempt to extort them in one of the most inhumane ways- by keeping them chained to a dead marriage. Her soon to be ex husband is in a relationship with another woman, living with her, but he refuses to grant Irena the Gett.
We are now raising funds to help Irena fight this battle, and to also raise awareness on this abuse.
The time to stand up is now! We will no longer be abused. We will no longer stay silent. Help our Jewish sister. Please find it in your hearts to donate so we can help her with this fight and possibly help with the legal battle. Please sign the petition demanding for Irena to be given the Gett and to stop Gett abuse.
