Hi everyone my name is Emily Rios and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for help for someone I love deeply my stepdad. He's been my mom’s rock for 18 years almost two decades stepping into my life as a father when I was barely two years old. Right now, he is facing one of the hardest moments of his life, and we're doing everything we can to keep our family from being torn apart. On June 6, 2025, my stepdad was with his coworkers in Cathedral City, searching for work as they often do. They were surrounded by ICE, a scene you might have seen online. It broke my heart to have to witness this. He's a hardworking man who works tirelessly, who is endlessly kind, genuine, and smart, and always ready with a joke. My mom recently had surgery about a month and a half ago and is still recovering. She is work as hard as she can even doing over time if possible but can't handle multiple jobs right now. Our family is emotionally and financially overwhelmed, and we need help to pay for a qualified immigration lawyer who can fight for his case and help us keep him home with us where he belongs with his family. Right now, he is in a ICE detention center, having to spend his birthday in there on June 10th battling immigration charges. We are trying to raise $10,000 to cover attorney and legal fees. Realistically, the total cost could rise to $20,000 or more, depending on how long the case goes. Any amount you can give no matter how small or big would mean the world to us. And if you're not able to donate, you can still help by sharing this campaign with your loved ones, friends, neighbors, coworkers, or on social media. Whatever you can do from the depths of your heart, we will cherish it, we're doing this because we believe in justice, in compassion, and in keeping families together.
