The wonderful kids and staff at Pital Public School in Mizata need your support to build new bathrooms and fix their roof. For the past few years I have served as the Holistic Physical Education teacher (we do Yoga, Meditation, Dance, Self-Defense, Running, and more!).

The school is warm, welcoming and nurturing. But like many rural schools, it faces a few challenges.

Currently, the only bathrooms are located down a long staircase—50 stairs away from the classrooms—which makes it especially difficult for the youngest students in Kindergarten, who often need help from their teacher at the toilet.

The toilets also require water to be poured in manually to flush—the kids fill a bucket from the sink and carry the water back to the stall—adding another layer of effort for the kids and staff.

Additionally, the gutter needs repairs, as it floods their space during the rainy season.

With the support of our community, we’re coming together to build 2 new bathrooms right next to the classrooms and fix key areas of the school. We'll be using sustainable eco-friendly methods and hiring local workers to make it happen—creating not just functional improvements, but a more inspiring learning environment for these kids.

The 80 kids and the 3 wonderful teachers are full of energy, curiosity, and life. They have given me so much - they are so loving and make me feel at home in their school.

Los maravillosos niños y el personal de la Centro Escolar Cantón El Pital necesitan tu apoyo para construir nuevos sanitarios. Durante los últimos años he sido profesora de Educación Física Holística allí en la escuela (hacemos Yoga, Meditación, Danza, Defensa Personal, Correr y mucho más).

La escuela es cálida, acogedora y enriquecedora. Pero, como muchas escuelas rurales, se enfrenta a algunos retos. En la actualidad, los únicos sanitarios están situados en una larga escalera -están a 50 escaleras de donde estudian - lo que dificulta especialmente el acceso de los alumnos más pequeños de 4 años, que frequentemente necesitan ayuda de su profesora para ir al baño. Además, para tirar de la cadena hay que verter el agua manualmente: los niños llenan una botella con agua y transportan el agua hasta el inodoro, lo que supone un esfuerzo adicional para los niños y los profes. Además, hay que reparar la canaleta, que se inunda durante la temporada de lluvias.

Con el apoyo de nuestra comunidad, nos estamos uniendo para construir 2 nuevos baños justo al lado de las aulas y arreglar zonas clave de la escuela. Utilizaremos métodos ecológicos sostenibles y contrataremos a trabajadores locales para hacerlo realidad, creando no sólo mejoras, sino un entorno de aprendizaje más inspirador y funcional para estos maravillosos niños.

Los 80 niños y los 3 maravillosos profesores están llenos de energía, curiosidad y vida. Me han dado tanto - son tan cariñosos y me hacen sentir como en casa en su escuela.
