Help Immigrant Family Secure Work Permits

Donation protected
I am writing to ask a favor. Angie, myself, my Mom and a few other people have been supporting an immigrant family for over a year now. We have hired a lawyer for their asylum case. We regularly buy them food and pick up food from food shelves for them, and try to keep the kids in clothes they can go to school in with a sense of pride, we got the oldest son into a soccer club among various other things. They are here legally and are legal residents of MN. Angie drives them down to their meetings with ICE about once a month to make sure they continue the immigration process with integrity. It is frustrating because each time we overcome one hurdle the bar is moved by this administration and there are more requirements. We are at the mark when the lawyer can get them work permits so they can have jobs without fear of being jailed for "working illegally without a work permit." That is what is happening to many asylum seekers. If they work they could be jailed. If they don't work, their family doesn't eat. The lawyer says on October 31, we can finally apply for work permits for both parents and the oldest child. I have discussed with 2 different managers where I work at Allina and have 2 potential jobs lined up for when the permits go through. This would mean health insurance and dental care for the family. They are so close to being able to take a deep breath. Unfortunately yesterday I found out the bar has been moved yet again. Now each I individual application to work has a $550 fee attached. The family obviously can't afford this. Angie and I have spent a good amount of money supporting them and we have decided to start trying to get more support from others. I am working on writing out their story so you can know a little more about them. I am writing to humbly ask you to help raise $1,650 ($550x3) to get their work permits for the parents and older child. Please understand I come to you with much humility and have no expectations. I know the economy is tough right now so if you can't help please know that I am so thankful to have so many people in my life that would even consider it. You are one of these many people. Donations can be sent to my Venmo accout at: Jesse Fredrickson@rumal1
I hope you don't feel singled out or put upon. That is not my intention. Funds over and above the goal will be given directly to the family.
