Hi everyone,

My name is Ian Fitzgerald and I’m creating this fundraiser to support my mom and my brother during an incredibly difficult and unexpected chapter in their lives.

They have struggled to make ends meet for a long time, and recently my mom retired in hopes of finding more stability and being closer to family. With the help of my wife, Cassie, and myself, they made the decision to relocate from Virginia to California. They drove across the country in my mom’s car and sold nearly everything they own, including my brother’s car so they could afford the move and start over near family.

They arrived in California and stayed temporarily with my aunt and uncle while they worked to get established. Unfortunately, less than two months after arriving, the situation changed suddenly. My uncle decided they could no longer stay, giving them no time or opportunity to find housing, secure jobs, or get settled on their feet.

This left my mom and brother with no choice but to return to Virginia. They've sold/donated nearly everything they owned and now have only a small number of personal family items and their clothes. They returned without stable housing, transportation options, or financial resources and are having to start over from nothing.

The funds raised will go directly toward helping cover essential needs such as temporary housing, transportation, food, basic living expenses, and providing them the breathing room needed to find work and regain stability.
