Help Ian with Service Dog Training
Donation protected
Hello, and thanks for taking a look at this fundraiser. My name is Nick, and I’m here to asking for a little hand in helping my big brother get his service dog training paid for. Let me tell you a bit about Ian James. He is someone of whom I am extremely proud! He is caring, empathetic, and dedicated to people. And he also is someone who has been diagnosed with severe PTSD because of his time as a Respiratory Therapist during the initial Covid-19 outbreak here in New Mexico. He worked at University Hospital in Albuquerque and saw the worst of the worst. As a Respiratory Therapist he was an integral part of all Covid cases. Unfortunately, as a part of the medical team, he also saw a vast number of deaths occur. He particularly struggles with his memories involving children. As a father of two himself, he particularly found these deaths hard. The PTSD he now suffers from has changed who my son is. He is withdrawn and experiences severe anxiety in all aspects of daily life.
He has been matched with a service dog. He picked her up today. Her name is Lacey and for the first time he expresses hope. We now need to find the funds for the training which will begin this next week. At $800 a month, minimum, this is more than our family can afford by ourselves. He has had to commit to 10 additional months of training.
