I am Hurcent, and I am organizing this self-led project to support individuals and families in Jamaica who have been displaced through immigration laws and deportation procedures. I am heartbroken for the people who have found themselves uprooted, separated from stability, and left feeling insecure about their lives and future. This is a serious and life-changing situation for those involved and for their families, and I could not ignore the need.

Donations will go toward relocation costs, housing, food, and other basic necessities to help during the difficult transition period between culture shock and finding grounding and reemployment. My hope is to also work alongside organizers on the ground to foster collaboration and support where it is needed most. My last GoFundMe was geared toward hurricane recovery from Melissa, a task that is still underway and ongoing, and I remain committed to showing up for communities facing crisis and instability.

Our world feels unstable and terrifying right now. Many of us immigrants are already doing what we can to support those left behind, especially people who never had the opportunity to migrate and who continue to face the struggles of island life with very little.
