Help Hunter Reunite with Daughters

Greetings my name is Allan Hunter of Shinnecock Nation, Long Island, New York. I started this gofundme to raise money for legal fees to reunite with my two bright, beautiful little girls, Mackenzie, age 10, and Delaney, age 5 

I have been a loving husband and caring father to my family since my eldest daughter was born. We often traveled to visit family on Shinnecock until settling here when Mackenzie was 3. My girls enjoyed a vibrant life raised in a tight knit tribal community of loving family and lifelong friends.

In July of 2019, at my wife’s suggestion, we decided to explore career opportunities near her family in Kingston, Jamaica in an effort to raise enough money to build our dream house on my family's allotment here on Shinnecock.  My wife promised her family's network of businesses would enable me to setup a company there and earn money. The plan, we discussed, was to establish our businesses in Jamaica and  travel regularly back home.

However, when we arrived in Jamaica, the business opportunities were not as my wife promised.  After four months of our family not having any income, I expressed my discomfort to my wife and insisted that we return to Shinnecock where I could work to support our family. She refused.  It became evident to me that all along my wife's invitation to join her family's homeland was merely a means to separate me from our children by using international borders to evade the U.S. legal system. 

My concerns were confirmed when my wife suddenly presented me with a one-way ticket home to New York after telling me she did not love me anymore and has not for the last 3 to 4 years! Despite my insistence that I would never leave my daughters' side, my wife said that if I did not board the plane willingly, she would have me escorted off the island by police. Given her mother's political connections in Jamaica, I concluded that I was a long way from home and in no position to argue. 

With the exception of video calls, I have not seen my daughters since August 7, 2020.  

On August 13th, I filed a Warrant and Writ of Habeus Corpus in the local family court for unlawful retention of our minor children. However, I was denied pending a jurisdictional hearing, which is currently in progress. Given the international and tribal circumstances of my case, I may have to prepare for an appeal, which is costly. 

Each time I speak with my daughters it feels like we are more estranged. Meanwhile, the legal fees continue to compound. But I refuse to give up! 

I will continue to fight for the right to be an equally present parent in my children's lives. I love my girls more than anything in this world and I will do all that I can to bring them back home to our tribal community and ancestral home, Shinnecock.

While it pains me, I must humbly ask for your support to surmount this egregious legal battle. Please help me to enforce the return of my American-born wife, daughters, and our beloved family dog, back to the U.S. where our fate as a family can be declared, legally, and in the best interest of all individuals affected, especially our children.
