My name is Darren Burns, and I am a very concerned father for my 26-year-old son who has basically gone through two years of terrible adversity and is starting at Ground Zero again.
He worked hard his whole life until two years ago when he was struck with myocarditis, which left him with $36,000 of medical bills. A year later, he was accepted into the Austin Police Academy, was training like a maniac, and left his comfortable job to follow his dream of serving his community. He collapsed on a run and was expelled from the academy, left without a job, unemployment, or health insurance.
Now he has discovered that his fiancé is unfaithful and is trapped in a lease with her and is desperately struggling to start a new chapter in his life. Much to my shock, he had burned through all his savings and very responsibly paid off all his medical debts, but of course, now has no way to relocate closer to family, get out of his lease, or build a new savings.
I feel sick and that I can only help him here and there with small amounts, and I’m hoping this is a way through God and the generosity of his fellow Americans to throw him just a little bit of help and let him start a new chapter of his life to help make the world a better place, thank you.
I’m hoping to get enough money to allow him to get all the proper medical care and tests he needs to determine his health, payoff his little Kia, relocate to a new apartment and hopefully a new state near family very soon, such as Colorado or Kansas, and rebuild his savings so he has a chance to at least get back to where he was two years ago.
