Hi, my name is Billy. In 2017, with the help of friends and local businesses, I started a program to provide gift cards to foster kids, fourteen and older, at Christmas time. Last year, with the help and inspiration of friends, we started a federally recognized 501(c)(3) charity to help make this project grow. We named the charity Bridging The Gap.

Last year, we distributed $100 gift cards to 76 Humboldt County teenagers in foster care during the holiday season.

The holiday season is a time for love, giving, and togetherness, but for many teenagers in foster care, it can feel isolating and uncertain. These young individuals don't have the same support or resources to celebrate Christmas in the way that many of us do. Teenagers in foster care often experience a sense of invisibility during the holidays. They may not have the same opportunities as their peers to enjoy festive traditions, receive gifts, or feel celebrated.

This holiday season, with your help, we want to try and bring joy and hope to these teenagers by providing them with gift cards, allowing them to pick out something special for themselves. These gift cards will give them the freedom to choose what they need or want, whether it's clothing, books, or something that can make them feel valued during the holiday season.
