Help Hula Ohana of Fresno Find a New Home
Dulce Upfront, alongside community organizations, cultural leaders, artists, families, and supporters throughout Fresno, is rallying around Hula Ohana during this difficult transition. Together, we are raising funds to help this beloved dance family secure a permanent home where its important work can continue.
For 27 years, Hula Ohana of Fresno has created a welcoming place for people to learn, dance, celebrate Polynesian culture, and build lasting relationships. What began with only 10 participants grew into a multigenerational community that has served more than 2,700 dancers.
At Hula Ohana, mothers dance beside their daughters, grandparents share traditions with younger generations, and people of all ages find connection and belonging. It has never been just another recreation class, it is a family.
After nearly three decades at the Mosqueda Center, Hula Ohana learned that the City of Fresno was ending the Multicultural Dance Program and that the group could no longer hold its classes there. The news brought an unexpected end to a 27-year partnership and left Hula Ohana without a permanent space.
Although the group has secured a temporary location for classes, it still needs a stable, long-term home. Hula Ohana is determined to keep dancing, teaching, and bringing families together, but they should not have to face this transition alone.
Funds raised through this campaign will help Hula Ohana with the costs of finding, securing, and transitioning into a new home. This may include:
- Rental and security deposits
- Initial facility and operating expenses
- Moving and storage costs
- Insurance and required permits
- Preparing the new space for classes and community gatherings
- Other expenses connected to creating a safe and sustainable home
Hula Ohana has given so much to Fresno over the past 27 years. Now, our community has an opportunity to show up for them.
Please donate at whatever level is possible and share this campaign with your family, friends, and community networks. If you know of an affordable space or have resources that could support their search, we also invite you to reach out.
Every donation, share, and connection will help Hula Ohana move closer to a permanent home.
The location may change, but the family, culture, and spirit of Hula Ohana will continue.
Let’s come together and help Hula Ohana keep dancing for generations to come.
