Howard Brown Health union RNs have been in contract negotiations since May and have just voted (Sep. 1 2025) unanimously in favor of authorizing a strike! Steven Glass and the rest of Howard Brown executive leadership are once again failing to take the expertise of their frontline staff seriously. They are trying to,
- take away nurses' ability to provide care without a provider present (in an obvious attempt to force already financially burdened patients to pay more in medical fees).
- refuse to provide cost of living adjustments that will keep up with inflation and ensure proper staffing through recruitment and retention
- strip nurses of their right to progressive discipline
- move the nursing department from from the medical chain of command and re-classify it as "operations" under the operations director, Steven Glass.
Nurses are fighting to,
- Ensure they can provide the highest level of care possible
- Be properly staffed
- Have oversight over and input into the hiring process of their direct supervisor
- Be fairly paid
Management has flat out rejected most of the nurses top priority proposals! Nurses are prepared to strike for their patients and themselves but they need your support to be ready to defend patient care and their jobs!
Donations to the Illinois Nurses Association are not tax deductible and can only be used to cover hardship costs other Howard Brown workers incur due to contract negotiations or potential strikes.
