Last year, because of your incredible generosity, we were able to raise over $4,000 to support the children of the House of Hope Foundation in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Your support made a real difference—and today, we’re reaching out again to continue that journey.
A Place of Hope in Zimbabwe
For the past five years, myself along with the owners of Kudu Valley Safari Lodge, have been actively involved in supporting the House of Hope Trust—helping with construction, supplies, and ongoing expenses.
On a recent visit in April 2026, I had the opportunity to spend time at the orphanage, see the progress firsthand, and reconnect with the children. The growth over the past few years has been remarkable—but the need remains very real.
Located just 14 km from Victoria Falls in the rural community of Ntabayengwe, the House of Hope is more than an orphanage. It is a safe home, a support system, and a second chance at life for children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to poverty, illness, and hardship.
A Founder’s Sacrifice
This mission exists because of one man’s incredible commitment.
In 2018, Enock Ali, the founder and trustee, made the life-changing decision to sell his own home in Victoria Falls so he could move to a rural area and care for more children in need. What started as a vision has grown into a community that now supports 15 children full-time, along with outreach to other children and elderly in the surrounding area.
Progress Since Last Year
Because of your support, we’ve seen meaningful progress:
A fully operational chicken project has been established.
A chicken coop and broilers are now in place.
The first batch of chickens is now ready, and sales are beginning locally
This is a major step toward long-term sustainability for the orphanage.
However, this is only the beginning. The project is still in its early stages and cannot yet cover the full cost of operations. Continued support is critical to help it grow to a level where it can sustain the children long-term.
Current Needs – 2026
As we head into the new year, the needs have shifted from initial setup to growth, education, and stability.
Education (Immediate Need – April 2026)
Schools opened on January 14, 2026, and we currently have four children advancing to high school.
Funds are needed for:
Enrollment fees
School uniforms
First term school fees
Stationery and supplies
Living & Household Needs
Tables and chairs
Laptops (2) for education
Bunk beds (4)
Dressers (4)
Building & Improvements
Floor tiling
Sealing and finishing work
Interior and exterior painting
Chicken Project Expansion
The current project is running well and housing approximately 500 chickens, but the goal is to grow to 1,000 chickens, both Broilers and Layers.
To achieve this, we need:
Construction of a second chicken coop
Additional supplies to scale production
This expansion is key to creating a reliable income stream by supplying eggs and poultry to local lodges in Victoria Falls.
Medical Needs
One of the children is currently battling epilepsy, and access to proper medical care has been a challenge.
Your support will help cover these critical medical expenses and ensure this child receives the care they need.
Transportation
The orphanage is currently relying on a rent-to-buy vehicle, but transportation remains a major challenge.
A dedicated van would:
Support daily logistics
Assist with school transport
Create potential income opportunities for the orphanage
Social & Development Needs
Construction of a children’s play area, including swings and recreational equipment
Why Your Help Matters
Zimbabwe continues to face rising costs for food, education, and basic living essentials, making it increasingly difficult for organizations like House of Hope to operate.
Despite these challenges, the children are thriving because of the love and dedication of those caring for them—and because of supporters like you.
