Hi my name is Summer, I’m from Toronto, Canada and I’m hosting this fundraiser to help collect funds for my friend Hossam in Gaza. He’s currently run out of his medication for his rare skin condition and is living with chronic pain during this critical situation in Gaza. Here is his statement:

“I am Hossam Soltan. I was born in 1999 and lived a normal childhood until the first signs of a mysterious skin disease appeared on my feet in 2001.

Over time, my condition deteriorated, and the small spots turned into painful deformities. After seeing doctors in Gaza, I was diagnosed with keratoderma, a chronic, incurable genetic disease.

In 2002, I traveled with my father to Egypt in search of treatment. I was prescribed painkillers that temporarily relieved the pain, but did not halt the progression of the disease. The suffering continued for years, until my condition improved slightly in 2016 after a doctor in Gaza prescribed Estrin.

But in 2023, the war caused a shortage of medication, leading to a more severe recurrence of the disease. The pain worsened, and I became unable to stand or walk. Today, I live in a tragic health situation, suffering from constant pain and hoping for support and treatment.”

Hossam faces a rare disease and harsh conditions, and lives in hope of recovery amidst the pain and suffering, asking God for relief and patience.
