I'm Your Huckleberry Rescue is a nonprofit based in Pineville, Missouri. In September 2024, a dog named Snickers was surrendered to us by a woman escaping domestic violence. She couldn’t take Snickers with her—but she also couldn’t leave her behind in an unsafe home. Snickers was her baby, and she stayed long enough to ensure Snickers landed somewhere safe before walking away from everything she knew.

Snickers waited over 222 days in foster care without a single adoption application. She had been through so much and just needed someone to see the good girl beneath the fear.

And then... she found them.

Her new family saw past the rough edges and fell in love with her sweetness. They renamed her HoneyBun because, in their words, she’s “sweet as honey.” Now she shares her home with three little best friends she adores.

But HoneyBun still has challenges. She has severe reactivity to strangers and other dogs, likely tied to her past trauma. At her size, this makes vet visits or even a walk down the street stressful and risky—for her and those around her. The outside world feels big and scary.

We want to help her learn to feel safe.

We’ve lined up an experienced trainer who’s offering a discounted 10-day board and train program to give HoneyBun the structure, confidence, and calm she needs to thrive.
