Hello, my name is Hingrid, and I wanted to share a little about why I’m here.

My husband Oliver was detained by CBP (immigration) and has been in ICE custody since Sunday, September 28th. This has been a heartbreaking and unexpected time for our family.

I was able to pay our October rent and essential bills like utilities and health insurance, but I’m unsure how I’ll manage the upcoming months. I’m currently selling my car and household items on Facebook Marketplace to help cover our basic needs — gas, food, and diapers for our one-year-old.

I’m also doing everything I can to find an attorney to help my husband’s case. For background: Oliver came to the U.S. legally with a visa, and although he planned to leave to visit Canada or England, he chose to stay after building friendships through our church — where we met.

We’ve been together since 2017, moved in together in 2018, and built a beautiful life:

• Our first son was born in July 2020

• Our daughter in 2021

• We married in November 2021

• Our youngest arrived in August 2024

Oliver’s visa expired in the middle of our growing family’s journey. On his way to work in New Mexico, he was detained by CBP near Abilene, TX. He has always worked hard, traveling to different cities and states to provide for us.

Now, I’ve taken on the full responsibility of caring for our four children on my own. I’m deeply grateful that I was able to cover October, but I am very worried about what the coming months may look like.
