I am raising funds for my family and me as we try to move out of a two-bedroom trailer that has become unsafe and unlivable. Over the past four years, we’ve faced countless challenges—unstable floors, leaking gas, rotting walls, and a ceiling that’s falling in. Despite our best efforts to fix things, the trailer’s foundation is unstable, and the park we live in keeps raising our rent every month to push us out. We’ve poured money and energy into repairs, but it’s never enough. My partner and I have been sleeping in the living room on a broken pull-out couch so our kids can have their own rooms. Our daughter’s room was once ours, but we had to make it livable for her, and our son’s room is like a sauna no matter what we do. We have three kids—an almost 13-year-old, an 8-month-old, and one on the way—plus two cats and a dog. The space is so cramped that even our animals don’t have room to be themselves anymore. The kitchen is our closet, not a place to eat, and every corner is filled with the clutter that comes from raising kids and pets.

We’ve been living off one income for nearly four years, and I’ve been a stay-at-home mom due to scheduling issues with our son. We DoorDash together just to get by, but even with that, we barely make ends meet. We aren’t approved for food stamps or assistance, and by the end of the month, we struggle to afford even basic groceries. We’ve tried everything to make our home comfortable, but nothing works. The park is planning to demo our trailer and replace it with new housing, so we’ve decided to sell it back for what we paid and move to Florida, where we have jobs and a home lined up. What we really need help with is the down payment for the apartment, a couch, and a bed and frame for my partner and me. We can figure out the crib situation for the baby, but these essentials will help us start fresh and give our family the stability we desperately need.

My family and I never ask for help, but this is a serious cause for the betterment of us as a unit. It’s imperative that we move for our growing family, and we’re grateful for any support that will help us get there.
