Hi everyone,

My name is Heather, and I’m the mom of a bright, fun-spirited 7-year-old boy named Wyatt. I’ve raised him full-time, without the help of his father since he was 8 weeks old. Anyone who knows the background on our past 7 years, knows how strong our bond is and how hard I’ve worked to give him a stable, happy life.

Wyatt has been blessed with a wonderful support system throughout this time, including a MeMe and Pappy (who have done so much for us already!) an amazing stepdad, and step-siblings who love him dearly and want to protect him as well. Our home is where he is safe, supported and in a stable home-life and routine.

For the last 7 years, his biological father has been minimally involved in his life, choosing to see him only a few times a year, in between his personal wants and needs. While I cant get into the details here, due to the legality issues, I’ve never tried to keep Wyatt from seeing his father when he asked. The consistency and commitment simply haven’t been there. Despite this, I have always focused on giving Wyatt the stability he needs and deserves.

Recently, his father has decided to pursue custody, and I now find myself needing legal representation to ensure that Wyatt’s voice, history, and well-being are fully seen and understood in court. As a mom, this is terrifying. I don’t like asking for help, but I’m doing everything in my power to protect my son emotionally and physically and to keep the stable life he has always known.

Legal fees are overwhelming, pulling from my 401k or getting a personal loan is not an options at this time.

Due to the timeframe and urgency, I am reaching out, with sincerity and gratitude, for any help towards the lawyer retainer I need to fight for Wyatt’s best interests. Even sharing this page means more to us than you know. I know times are hard for everyone, especially with the cost of living and it being so close to Christmas, but I just have to try to do what any other mom in my shoes would do for her child.
