A couple years ago, I made the difficult decision to leave a relationship I thought would last forever. My ex was struggling with severe mental health issues, and unfortunately, he took much of his pain out on me. Leaving that situation was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, but it was necessary for my safety and healing. The aftermath resulted in a three-year domestic violence restraining order, and I’ve spent every day since working to rebuild my life and recover from the debt he left behind.

As a single mom of two amazing girls, I’ve had to fight unnecessarily for custody, which has added even more stress and financial strain. I am also a full-time college student, working toward a degree in psychology so I can help others heal from their own struggles. Right now, I’m facing the possibility of losing my car, struggling to keep up with household utilities, and trying to find the resources to start the business I’ve been dreaming about. I’ve been doing everything I can to catch up, but it’s been a struggle.

If I can get this support, I’ll finally be able to pay off the debt from that painful chapter, keep my car, cover our essential utilities, and invest in the tools and necessities I need to launch my business. This would give me the stable ground I need to continue moving forward and healing, both for myself and my daughters. My dream is to open transitional homes for women escaping domestic violence and help people transitioning from homelessness. I want to build partnerships and write grants so I can offer a safe, stable place and resources for a fresh start. I always say, “I know I can’t change the world, but if I can change one person’s world, I’m doing my job right.”
