A group of King's College Class of 2025 graduate Physician Assistant students, alongside two PA faculty members, will be traveling from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, to Canto Grande, Peru, in July 2025. Our mission is to provide critical medical care and education to underserved populations, ensuring that our efforts continue to have a lasting impact on their health and well-being.
This year, we are emphasizing not only the immediate care we can provide but also strategies for long-term health improvement. Our key focus areas include:
• Patient Education: We will concentrate on educating patients about managing chronic conditions like diabetes and anemia. By teaching patients about lifestyle changes and helping them understand the importance of compliance with treatment plans, we aim to improve their health outcomes even after we leave.
• Follow-Up Care: We are committed to ensuring that patients receive ongoing care by funding follow-up testing and clinic appointments. This will allow patients to get the care they need, even after our brief visit.
• Women’s Health: A significant part of our mission is improving women's health by providing sustainable hygiene products that not only meet their needs but also help reduce environmental impact.
• Acute Urgent Care: During our visit, we will also be providing urgent care, especially for those affected by cold and flu at the height of their seasonal outbreak.
Your generous donations will help us provide essential medical supplies such as medications, vitamins, and feminine hygiene products. Funds will also cover the costs of follow-up care, medical equipment usage, and additional resources to ensure our impact is sustained.
This trip is more than just an opportunity for us to practice as future healthcare providers—it’s a chance to leave a meaningful legacy of care that continues to benefit this community long after our time in Peru is over.
Thank you for supporting us in this important mission and helping us make a lasting difference in the lives of these patients!
