My name is Haru Darling, and I am reaching out for help during one of the most challenging times in my life. After facing homelessness in California and being kicked out from three different places, I found a program that would help me become a teacher in Thailand. I used my last dollars to join, hoping for a fresh start and a chance to build a better future.
Living in Thailand as a Black, non-binary and queer person has come with its own set of challenges. I am paid less than the average teacher, and it has been a constant struggle to keep the lights on and food on the table. Most days, I have to choose between taking a three-hour walk to work or having something to eat. There are times where I throw up bile and use advil to hide my food aching belly. I cannot live like this anymore. Recently, my electricity was cut off, and I am now facing eviction while still searching for stable work as an English teacher.
Receiving support through this fundraiser would mean so much. It would help me pay for my visa, restore electricity, and cover basic necessities like food. More than anything, it would give me peace of mind, safety, and the stability I need to keep moving forward. Any support you can give will help me get back on my feet and bring hope during a very difficult time. Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer. A dollar may seem so little to you but to me it is worth more. Not only do I get to know someone out there worries, supports me (if it is just a dollar), and cares for me it puts a smile on face. It puts my tears that I shed about my constant worries to happy tears.
Thank you,
A forever grateful Haru
