Help Hannah Reinhardt Rebuild After Hurricane Debby
Donation protected
Hurricane Debby crawled into the Carolinas as a Tropical Storm on August 7, 2024. In the early hours of August 8th, my dog and I were awoken by an earth shattering sound. A roughly 200ft oak tree had fallen onto my home and into my living room (about 20ft from where I was sleeping). As you are aware, the Carolinas have been torn apart in recent months due to hurricanes. This has caused major delays for insurance adjusters nationwide. As it stands today, 10/31/24 - the tree has been removed but I still have a hole into my living room. Construction cannot be scheduled further due to the lag with insurance as we don't know yet what additional work will be approved as the adjuster admittedly missed a few critical elements in his original assessment. So far, they have denied about $7,000 worth of necessary repairs and to top it off, State Farm will be dropping my homeowners coverage on November 17, 2024 due to this unfinished claim. I have filed a complaint with the NC Department of Insurance and spoken with my adjuster, his boss, my agent (who has been zero help refusing to speak to the underwriters), and potential new insurance companies and feel I have exhausted my resources. The 2024 hurricane season is not over and I will likely be without coverage for the remainder of the season because no new insurance company wants to touch me until this claim is completed in it's entirety.
My oldest brother Dale started this fundraiser for me a few months ago and I am so grateful for those that have offered their support morally and financially. Unfortunately, the urgency of this incident has escalated beyond the simple deductible. My faith is stronger than my current fears and worries. Thank you again to all my loved ones for your continued support.
