Help Hanady and her family leave Gaza
Donation protected
In the Spring of 2023, I was asked to lead an online course for social campaigning through an NGO. The participants were women from Lebanon and Palestine, including participants living in Gaza. One of these women is Hanady Sala – a 27-year-old human rights lawyer and advocate for women's health. Since October 7, they have fled on "safe" location to another. Today, Hanady and her family find themselves in Rafah, and need to leave.
I'll let Hanady introduce everyone in her own words:
I am Hanady Salah and I write from Gaza, Palestine. I have 2 brothers and 3 sisters and my mom. I am 29 years old and I studied law and I work a lawyer and about women’s rights.
On October 7, we were sleeping in our beautiful little house, and there was bombardment, bombs, and shells from tanks, battleships, and planes. We woke up terrified and stayed in our house for 3 days.
On October 10, The bombing caused the roof and stones to fall on us, and we emerged from the rubble safely and without injuries, but our house was destroyed and became unfit for living.
We were displaced to Deir al-Balah, a city in the middle of the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army bombed an apartment above the one we live in, and 6 people died. My little sister and I were hit by rocket fragments with our feet and we moved to Khan Yunis.
In Khan Yunis, we stayed for a whole month in a tent that was not suitable for living. There were no mattresses, no blankets, no food, and no clean drinking water. Despite our acceptance of living in a tent, we were displaced by the Israeli army to Rafah.
Now we have no home and no place to live, and bombing and death follow us everywhere.
The amount we need is the cost of leaving Gaza for me, my parents, and my two brothers and 3 sister in the midst of the genocide : $5100 for each one.
We have to pay the trip from Gaza to Egypt, then we need money to live in Egypt the time to organize our next move. Our plan is to travel to Qatar , where we have some family.
I thank you for hearing our voices, and I hope that you can help us. Any amount you donate will save our lives.
I (Sabine) am collecting the money and will be transferring it to a friend who can access Hanady's Bank of Palestine account via Jordan. Any amount will help. Thank you.
