Hello, my name is Lilly and for the last 2 years I have had the privledge of calling Hamza my friend. He is the kindest, most genuine young man I have met in a very long time. I will let him introduce himself and tell his story
I am Hamza, a recent high school graduate, dreaming of earning a degree in e-business and building a career. I enrolled at Al-Azhar University in Gaza. Unfortunately, the war turned the university, once a beacon of hope and education, into a shelter for displaced families, depriving me of my educational goals.
I was excited to continue my education and get a job to support my family. But, like many others, the war shattered those dreams.
I have escaped death several times, and God has given me a new life. I don't know when the next time will come, whether I will survive or die. But we are still alive, trying to survive and persevere in Gaza. I risk my life to obtain food from American aid. I would travel long distances to obtain flour, but I was surrounded by four tanks and shot directly at me, but miraculously I survived.
Our Life in Displacement: The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. I would wake up every day to fetch water, collect firewood, and light a fire to prepare food. Survival became our daily task, but we didn't lose hope. The conflict had affected us deeply, but it didn't extinguish our dreams of education and a better future.
Why we need your help
This will help us cover:
Safe passage: $5,000 per person to escape Gaza
University and school fees: Funding my online business degree
Basic living expenses: Covering rent, food, and essential supplies during our first months in Egypt
Supporting our livelihoods and our family's needs. Donations will help us meet basic needs and provide vital support, allowing our family to regain stability and rebuild our lives during these difficult times.
Your contribution will not only help us escape the reality of war we live in, but will also give us the opportunity to rebuild our future.
Every donation, regardless of the amount, brings us one step closer to resuming our education and working toward a brighter future.
-Hamza
