My name is Hamdi Mahmoud Al-Ghouti, a resident of Palestine, specifically from Gaza. Today, I bring you a story that reflects resilience, survival, and the indomitable human spirit amid adversity.

As an accountant in Gaza, my family of eleven and I found ourselves immersed in the chaos of war that broke out on October 7th. Scenes of bombing, destruction, and forced displacement became our harsh reality, which led us to make the painful decision to leave our home in search of safety.

Gaza, once a place we called home, has been transformed into an inhospitable environment, stripped of the basic necessities of life. The basic elements of life – shelter, food and security – have been cruelly taken from us. In the wake of this upheaval, I witnessed the loss of almost everything that represented our existence. Gaza no longer felt safe, leaving me fiercely determined to build a new life for my family, away from the constant specter of war.

Today, I reach out to you not only as a survivor but as someone steadfastly committed to forging a path toward a brighter future. My ambition is to move my family and I to a place where we can rebuild and break free from the shadows of conflict that haunt our beloved Gaza. To embark on this journey, I am asking for your support through a fundraising campaign with a goal of »»60,000.

The increased campaign goal of $60,000 will allow for a more comprehensive approach toward securing the well-being and stability of my family. I'm a big believer in transparency, and I want you to be fully aware of how every dollar is being used:

The funds will be allocated primarily to ensure the safe relocation of my family out of Gaza. This includes travel expenses, visa fees, transportation costs and other associated expenses. The increased goal will enable us to seek safer and more reliable means of transportation and accommodation, ensuring a smoother transition for my family.

A large portion of the funds will go towards initial living expenses in our new destination. This includes rent, utilities, groceries, and other essential items needed for your daily sustenance. The expanded campaign goal will provide us with the financial stability needed to settle into our new environment and focus on rebuilding our lives.

Education remains a top priority for my children, and a portion of the funds will go toward ensuring they receive a quality education in our new surroundings. This includes school fees, supplies, and any additional educational support they may need. The increased target will allow us to invest more in their educational needs, providing them with opportunities to thrive academically.

To address any unexpected challenges or emergencies that may arise during our transition, a portion of the funds will be set aside as an emergency fund. This ensures that we have the necessary resources to overcome unexpected obstacles and maintain stability in times of crisis.
