Chi Tz’unun Choy is the Community Center of Tzununa, located in the Western Highlands of Guatemala on Lake Atitlan. The center is a vital resource for the local community, offering a library, a locally operated café, and a women’s center. It serves as a gathering place for learning, connection, and empowerment for the indigenous Kaqchikel community of Tzununá.

The center received a generous land donation, and we are seeking support to transform this space. Our goal is to level the land and create more usable areas, including an outdoor classroom, a new entrance, a recreational area for children, and a garden to support both education and the café. These improvements will allow the center to welcome even more children—currently, the library can see 50-75 children during activities—and provide new opportunities for education and community engagement. The expanded space will also help the café offer fresh ingredients and increase awareness of the center’s work within the community.

I am asking supporters to support the center’s mission of preserving the rich Maya culture, here in the land of Tzununà (that I am privileged to call home).
