The procedure he is having is called an Endoscopic Extended Strip Craniectomy in which they will open his skull and de-fuse the skull.

As a result he will be In a helmet for at least a year which is not covered by ohip nor insurance.

As long as the surgery goes according to plan he will only be in hospital for 1-2 nights but will have to go up to Toronto twice before, 4 times right after and then at least once a month for the next year to two years.

Because of Covid only one parent is allowed in the hospital so any appointments (especially early ones) will have to have a hotel for the other parent to stay while one goes in.
