Help Greg Rebuild After Tragic Accident

Greg Cancredi has been a familiar face of Putnam Valley for over two decades. He has been without a home for years, and Greg found shelter in his 1977 Chevy Malibu. This was not just a car to him, but it was his refuge, his home, his everything. This was something he held onto tightly to get him through these hard years he has endured with no home. During the harsh winters and blizzards, it kept him warm. It kept him safe and off the streets.

August 4th, 2025, his whole life got flipped upside down. While Greg was driving late at night, he fell asleep behind the wheel of his car. The car slammed into a rock wall and flipped completely, totaling his car. Greg suffered broken ribs, a concussion, and deep bruises. He spent the next few weeks in the hospital recovering. Greg is so lucky to be alive today, but his whole world is gone. All the clothes he had to his name, his food, and all of his belongings were scattered along that empty road and were never recovered. As Greg began to recover, a dread that nobody should ever come across, hit him. What do I do now? The hospital released him, and with no family to call, no insurance, and no home to get to, he was left by himself with nothing but the clothes on his back.

A minivan was donated to him just to get him off the streets, as winter is approaching. Unfortunately, the van is in poor condition and is not a long-term solution. I am sharing Greg’s story with our community in hopes that we can come together and help him out. Greg’s perseverance has carried him this far, but he shouldn’t have to do this alone. The funds we raise for Greg are to help with his medical care, to find a warm place to stay, and a reliable vehicle so he can begin to restart his life again.

For the years I have known Greg, he has been someone who carries humility and kindness. He has so much gratitude for what he does have. Those who have met Greg have described him as gentle and generous. He would give the shirt off his back for someone in need in a heartbeat. A man who has lost everything still believes in the goodness of others. This is not just charity but an act of love for a man who has spent his entire life giving what little he had.

Let’s help Greg get back on his feet!
