Dear GQCC Families,
I hope you and your family and friends are safe and healthy. The impact of COVID-19 across the global community has been staggering. And despite the devastation and uncertainty, unrelenting compassion and hope continues to unite us.
I recognize you have much to worry about right now given the current global crisis but if you are doing ok, GQCC could use your help. On Wednesday, March 25th, the Governor announced all schools and daycares in Massachusetts are to remain closed until May 4th. As you can imagine, that puts GQCC in a challenging situation.
GQCC is an independent non-profit childcare center so we don’t have the backing of a corporation or government funding. During this closure through May 4th, the Board of Directors does not want to extend any additional financial burden on our families and voted unanimously to not charge tuition. And because we also don’t want to put financial burden on our teachers during this tenuous time, GQCC has continued to pay and provide benefits for our teachers.
Our ability to do this is dwindling by the day so I’m writing to ask for your help. Will you help ensure Greater Quincy Childcare Center (GQCC) can continue to care for your children by contributing today? It’s not an exaggeration to say that without contributions from our families and friends, the center may well have to cease operations permanently.
If every family donates a portion of their tuition during the weeks we are closed, it will help sustain the Center during this crisis. Because we are a non-profit, donations are tax deductible, as allowed by law. Some employers also offer matching gifts; is your employer one of them? Please consider forwarding this letter to friends or relatives who are looking to make an impact in their local community.
This situation is evolving daily and GQCC Administration and the Board of Directors continues to stay abreast of all updates and assistance offered by the government. As we have more information to share, we will reach out. Per Governor Baker’s order, we plan to re-open on Monday, May 4, 2020. Should this change, we will communicate accordingly.
Thank you for your consideration during this unprecedented time. Please stay safe, healthy and practice good social distancing per the guidelines being provided by CDC.
Sincerely,
Jamie Brennan Judi Bailey
President, GQCC Board of Directors Executive Director, GQCC
